How to Prepare Your Body for Pregnancy

Home » Blog » Family and Parenting » How to Prepare Your Body for Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a very exciting and fulfilling time in a woman’s life that should be prepared for properly. Not only are you growing a little one, but you have to maintain a strong healthy lifestyle for yourself too. Here in this guide with the advice of this egg donation clinic, we take a look at the ways you can be prepared for pregnancy.

Folic acid intake

One of the biggest things future mothers are advised to take is folic acid. It’s a supplement used to increase your red blood cell count, which aids a child’s development in the womb. Doctors recommend prospective mothers should take folic acid up until they’re at least 12 weeks pregnant.

Employ a healthy and rich diet

To benefit both yourself and your future baby, look to have a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and nutrients that will benefit your child’s growth and your immune system. A healthy BMI weight helps with fertility chances as well as maintaining a strong body for when you’re ready to raise a child.

Reduce alcohol and quit smoking

An obvious one to factor in is if you’re a regular smoker and/or consume a lot of alcohol. You should aim to reduce your alcohol intake, ready for when you have to not drink alcohol throughout your pregnancy. If you’re a smoker, speak to your doctor about ways they can help you quit through support groups and other methods.

Look into regular exercise

While not an entirely necessary requirement, exercise is a great way of boosting your muscle and making you a fitter person overall. Coupled with a healthy diet, exercising can feel much easier to pick up, especially if you’re looking to lose weight in preparation for a child. Not only will it help you feel better physically, but it contributes towards a healthy mind as well, something mothers should be prepared to look after.
