The Benefits of School Trips for Children

Home » Blog » Family and Parenting » The Benefits of School Trips for Children

School trips might just seem like a fun day out for our kids, but they are actually super beneficial for them on both an academic and personal level. If you’re wondering why school trips are advantageous, a prep school in Kent have put together some details below.

Improves Relationships

During a school trip, students have the chance to bond with their peers and teachers in a way that just isn’t possible during normal classroom lessons. This is great because it means that teachers can learn what makes their students tick and children start to feel more comfortable speaking up in front of others.

Promotes Independence

Sticking to the same old routine doesn’t provide much leeway for children to step out of their comfort zone and try things without their parents around to support them. On a school trip, they might have to buy their own lunch or ask for directions, which might not be things they’d do normally. This helps them become more independent, which is an important part of growing up.

Enhances Classroom Learning

School trips are great for bringing classroom learning to life. It’s one thing to read about something in a book, but to see it in real life is far more exciting and memorable. As a result, your child might actually start to perform better in that particular subject, partly because they can feel more passionate about it, and partly because it’s ingrained in their brain in the form of a fond memory.

Boosts Confidence

As your child forms stronger relationships, becomes more independent, and becomes an active learner, they also become more confident. This is great because it will encourage them to step out of their comfort zone more often and might even encourage them to engage in classroom discussion, which they might have otherwise taken a back seat for.
